GET SH*T DONE: APRIL 2020 GOALS + MARCH 2020 RECAP

Times are… quite strange right now as we know, so my new goals for April will be different than usual. Most of them will be centered around stuff at home since that’s pretty much the only place we’ll be for the next month or more. But first… let’s see how March went!

📌 March Goals Recap

  • ❌ Read 5 books: FAIL. Not quite, with three.
  • ❌ Re-read Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: FAIL. I didn’t get to it.
  • Watch a movie with Jerry: DONE! Seeing as we got quarantined midway through the month, we actually watched a ton of movies (five, to be exact). I’ll talk about these in my month in review later this week.
  • ❌ Finish Forever YA book BEFORE our book club meeting: FAIL. I got close, but didn’t end up finishing until after. In case you were wondering, our book was Wilder Girls by Rory Power (review to come).
  • No credit cards: DONE! I feel great about this one!
  • ❌ See at least one movie in theater: FAIL. Again, plans I had to go out to the movies got canceled because we’re home.
Total Completed: 2 of 6

🎯 April Goals

This is a super rare opportunity to just be home, focusing on my family and house, as well as the chance to be both productive and restful. Here are my goals related to that.

  • Read 8 books: I really want to step it up and read a ton since I’ll be home… all the time. I also have two books to read for work book clubs (Forever YA and a virtual mystery book club I just launched while everyone is home), which will be included in this count.
  • Re-read Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: rollover goal.
  • Watch 3 movies
  • Watch and finish The Good Doctor OR The Resident (season one for either): both of these shows are on my to watch list. Now’s the perfect time to start catching up and I want to watch an entire season of at least one this month.
  • Watch and finish Making a Murderer: I never watched this but it’s right up my alley. I want to watch the whole thing this month.
  • Start The Circle: Since I already have big TV plans (above LOL), I want to at least start this one. I might not finish in April, but I’ll get as far as I can!
  • Clean off the dining room table: it’s a flat surface, so it’s a perpetual mess. Ugh.
  • Clean out my car: another mess.
  • Clean out the fridge and wash shelves: go through old stuff, then run the shelves through the dishwasher.
  • Clean out the freezer: go through the old stuff and get the rest organized.
  • Support at least two small, local businesses: I’ve been trying my best to buy from local, small businesses during this crisis (mostly restaurants and bakeries), so I’d like to continue that in April by making purchases from at least two more. Small business owners and service industries are really hurting right now, and this is my way of helping.

So what do you think? To me, this is a good mixture of productive things and fun, relaxing things. I am also working from home, so that keeps me busy a lot in the mornings.
