Five on Friday (19)

Oooh, another Friday is finally here and I am so glad! For such a short work week, it’s certainly felt pretty long and exhausting. On to my five for the week…

ONE.

I mentioned a few weeks back that I got promoted at work and today marks the first day of my new position. It involves me moving to another building (one that I’ve worked in before) and some new responsibilities. It was emotional yesterday having to leave my colleagues where I was, but I’m excited for this new opportunity. Wish me luck as I get settled in today!

TWO.

Jerry and I had a very productive and fun Labor Day weekend! We had two long, relaxing drives (one to a farmhouse store and one to meet a dog… more on that later) and did a lot of housework. We rearranged a lot of furniture because I’ve purchased a few new pieces, including my new barn red dresser! I love it and paid just $60. I’ve done a lot of decorating around the house but our bedroom has always been a bit neglected with ugly, mismatching furniture. It’s the next room on my list to tackle, starting with the new (to me) dresser.

THREE.

We’re adopting an eight year old senior Bulldog named Bully this weekend from a rescue group! He’s very old for a Bulldog but we fell in love with him when we met him last weekend. We’ve been wanting a second dog for awhile now and both have a soft spot for Bulldogs but didn’t want a puppy, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity.

FOUR.

Caleb has taken off walking, my friends. He was a VERY late walker at 19 months and now I’m kind of glad we got a few extra months of reprieve because boy oh boy, it’s been a gamechanger. To sum it up, let me just tell you what my current Facebook status says: “we’re at the ‘my toddler is an embarrassing jerk’ in stores stage. Lawd, help me.” Multiple tantrums in stores in one week = one exhausted mama and no more store outings for Caleb. This child has been testing my patience lately and I’m working on keeping my cool and giving him a little grace but I’d be lying if I said it was easy.

FIVE.

You guys, I HATE cooking, but I spent a lot of time in the kitchen over the weekend and I’m kind of stupidly proud. First, I made my favorite Oreo truffles as a parting gift for my colleagues and then I made this cheesy chicken spaghetti for dinner one night and man was it delicious! And easy! I can cook! I really can! (if it’s an easy recipe. Ahem…)

Well, that’s it for me! What are your weekend plans? We’re planning on picking up our new dog, relaxing at home with pizza and a movie, and NOT taking Caleb to the store. Haha!

Happy Friday, everyone!
