Today I’m linking up with Rebecca Jo to share all the things I’ve been grateful for lately. As you’ll see… most of this is birthday related since Jerry, Caleb, and I all have birthdays in January. Yes, it’s a busy and expensive month… yikes!
Quiet birthday at home: I was off from work on my birthday because I worked the weekend before. When Jerry got home from work, he brought me home cake and cupcakes, then my parents came over to join us for dinner. It was quiet and relaxing, and that’s all I wanted.
Time off: I also took several other days off of work between this week and last for my birthday, Caleb’s birthday, and Jerry’s birthday, plus I had off Monday for MLK Day. Two long weekends in a row, yes please.
All the cake: I had THREE cakes for my birthday (all on different days, of course). A cannoli cake from my Wednesday night girls at work, a chocolate addiction cake (PLUS cookie dough cupcakes from Jerry) on my actual birthday, and a cookie cake from my two besties last weekend. These people know me, don’t they?!
Girl’s night: as I mentioned, my best friends had a cookie cake for me. which was delicious. We got together at Katie’s, had frozen pizza, hung out, and just spent time together talking sans any kiddos. I love them all, but sometimes you just need some girl time and a break.
A new Aldi quarter: someone broke into my car (AGAIN) and our shed, which is incredibly infuriating and violating. I had nothing of value in either (because come on now, are people keeping wads of cash in their cars or sheds now?), except I did have a quarter. I NEVER carry cash, so I keep a single quarter for Aldi in my car that I never spend because I need it for Aldi. Well, of course this scumbag thief took my quarter. (I mean… is it worth potentially getting caught and going to jail for 25 cents?), and my cousin Ellen sent me a birthday card with a new Aldi quarter taped inside! HA! Love my cousin and her combined humor and thoughtfulness. P.S. if you don’t shop at Aldi, you need a quarter to unlock and use a cart. When you lock it back up, you get your quarter back. Some people don’t know what an Aldi quarter is, so there you go.
Holden taking steps: Holden has been cruising / walking along furniture for months, but has always been scared to let go and walk on his own. He’s finally started taking a couple of steps on his own lately and it’s so exciting to see!
Caleb’s birthday: Caleb’s birthday was yesterday and he was so excited and happy all day, which I just loved. All day long he kept saying “I can’t believe its my birthday! I’m so happy!” We opted not to have a big party this year like we did last year, and instead, just had a family day. He had preschool in the morning, then Jerry, Holden, and I picked him up and took him to KFC (his favorite) for lunch. After that, we went to Chuck E Cheese. When we got home, he opened his presents which he was so excited about (books and board games this year… he has so many toys), then had Little Caesar’s pizza for dinner, and a brownie cookie cake from our favorite bakery. Also thankful that we’ve known this baker ever since she made us a gender reveal for Caleb over 5 years ago and she loves our family, always giving us a small discount anytime we’re in.
Anastasia: I saw the Anastasia musical the other night with my aunt and friend. I wasn’t too sure what I’d think of it, but it was really great! The set and costumes were outstanding, and it was such a fascinating story. It’s not in my top 5 or anything, but I liked it quite a bit and would gladly see it again.
Harry Potter… finally: I’m super excited to be re-reading one of the best series of all time again FINALLY. I’ve only read them once, when they first came out and I was a kid. Every single year, I’ve made it a goal to re-read the series, and it never happens. No, really, look at my bookish goals for the last 5+ years and it’s on there, LOL. Well, I finally said “I’m doing this,” and started to re-read the first one the other day. Thankful for favorite, comforting books.
That’s what I’ve got this week! It’s been busy and crazy over here. What are you thankful for today?
