FIVE ON FRIDAY (60)

Hello, happy Friday, how y’all doing? (I’m channeling Dr. Now). It’s been cold as the dickens here all week, with lots of snow and wind. Ugh! How’s it been wherever you are? Anyway, let’s dive into it.

ONE.

My aunt and I saw Jesus Christ Superstar on Tuesday evening. At the end of it, I turned to her and said “what the hell did I just watch?!” Anyway, I had no idea what was happening about 90% of the time because I’m pretty unfamiliar with the bible and I only know basics. It also didn’t help that the entire thing is SUNG through with no spoken dialogue, and it can be really hard to understand the words people are singing, so I honestly could not follow it at all. All that said, I didn’t really enjoy it, which is rare for me and my musicals (I also didn’t like Lion King, what?). The acting, singing, and set were all outstanding though. It was high energy, and I felt like I was at a rock concert. I also super appreciated that it was only 90 minutes with no intermission, because we typically get home really late on our musical nights, so this was an early night for us. And most of all, I appreciated…. hot Jesus. Guys, the man who played Jesus was a beaut. I’ve been joking with my aunt all week about it. He saved the show for me because I could not look away from him. HA!  My coworker’s son produced the show, so she is going to try and get me a signed photo – LMAO! Fingers crossed. Anyway, I simultaneously disliked it and was mesmerized… so I have mixed feelings about it.

TWO.

Lots of news about my Holden today. Poor kid had a fever that lasted a few days at the beginning of the week. He was miserable and would fall asleep for a nap in my arms which he hasn’t done in ages. Luckily, he’s back to his normal wild self now. Also, he got a haircut a couple of weeks ago and looks so cute. I miss his long hair, but his eyes look so big now! And he has been full on walking for a few weeks at this point. He’s a wobbly little drunken penguin still, but improving by the day. Can’t believe my baby is growing up so much and will be a year and a half in the beginning of March already!

THREE.

Valentine’s Day was lowkey this year. Jerry made some keto style breadsticks for us for dinner and we just stayed home. We picked out our own gifts… he wanted a video game, and for me, I sent him a few bento boxes and teas that I wanted to try. He chose one of the boxes for me, so I can bring a variety of healthy snacks to work, and I also want to TRY and become a tea drinker. I don’t drink coffee, and I have to cut out soda (my beloved Diet Coke!) after surgery, so I thought I’d try out some dessert teas. I haven’t tried it yet because I’m kind of nervous and intimidated about tea! I just bought a tea kettle from Walmart, and have 2 flavors to try: Tazo Vanilla Bean Macaron and Republic of Tea Red Velvet Chocolate. Please tell me…. do you have any recommendations for a yummy, sweet, dessert tasting tea, particularly caffeine free? (Also a no-no after surgery). How do you prepare yours? How long do you steep the bag? Do you add sugar? Milk? Cream? Nothing? Send help, please?

FOUR.

You already know I love the Target drive up service, so let me tell you about the Walmart drive up service. Listen, Walmart is known for being notoriously bad, but they have really good prices so I can never really stay away. I absolutely HATE going in the store though, so I try to do online orders as much as possible, and was thrilled when they started the grocery drive up service. Neither of the stores in our town have it yet, but a couple in surrounding towns do, that are 20 – 25 minute drives, so it’s not real convenient, but it’s worthwhile if we have large orders to place. Anyway, first experience was awful. They basically couldn’t find our order in the system and we had to go back the next day. I emailed a complaint, they sent a $10 coupon, and we tried again at another store. It was great! Next time, also great! Last time, over the weekend… horrible! Caleb and I drove 20 minutes, pulled in, waited 10 minutes, and a lady finally came out to say they lost most of my order and were re-picking it. Then we sat there for 40 MINUTES WAITING! It was honestly less than 15 items, but took them for freaking ever. Caleb was crying, I called to bitch, and they said “oh, it’s finally ready! Be right out!” Some of the items they lost were the ONLY flavors left of some protein bars I wanted to try, so they had to replace them with ALL THE SAME flavor, and they also gave me a full sugar pudding instead of a sugar free for my vanilla pudding. Buuuut, I got a pack of chicken breast I didn’t order, an extra bag of sugar free chocolate chips, and 2 extra sugar free puddings (I ordered several flavors)… so their stupidity kind of paid off when they accidentally gave me all this extra stuff. Was it worth the wait? Maybe? I don’t know. I was really, really irritated. Anyone else use the drive up service? I love it in theory, but we’re 2 for 2 here on bad visits vs. good visits.

FIVE.

I had only a 3 day work week this week and hallelujah! We were closed Monday for the holiday, and I’m off today because I worked last Saturday. Today, I have an appointment for a sleep consultation (sleep study is required for surgery) and not much else. Tomorrow, I’m going to see the new movie, The Lodge, with my friend Margaret, and Sunday is lookin’ plan free… nice! What’s your weekend look like?

That’s five for now — see you in the next chapter.
