Goodreads, Anyone?

Okay, I must confess: I am a Goodreads addict!

A couple of months ago, I got an e-mail invite from a fellow book blogger to join Goodreads, which I'd heard of, but hadn't joined. I decided, "hey, what the heck?" so I signed up. I wasn't really into it, didn't really get it . . . but then . . . I got it!

I love it. My favorite part of it is having my TBR mountain on there. I previously kept my TBR list on a Word document, and it was a total mess. Now, I'm in the process of converting it all over to Goodreads. I love that because now I can see the book summary and book cover when I look through my list, instead of just the title on my word document. I still have a few hundred to transfer over, but I'm getting there. I also love seeing what all my blog friends are adding to their own lists, and I have added a TON more that way too.

I recently discovered the Goodreads Swap and am loving that too! I've gotten quite a few awesome books that way, and have sent some out too. I also use Paperback Swap, but I like the Goodreads Swap better. I've found that the quality of the books I receive off of Goodreads is substantially better. I love PBS, but I've gotten some books off of there in pretty poor condition.

The Neverending quiz is also a great time suck when I'm bored. I've also "met" some cool fellow book lovers from Goodreads, and I love talking books with them.

I'm still trying to figure everything out on the site, because I know there's a lot, but wow, I really love it! If you're on Goodreads, and we're not friends yet, feel free to add me! I'll link to my profile below.

  4. I also looooove Goodreads! I love that my TBR pile is getting bigger, and bigger, and like you, I like to see what everyone else is reading! I also love the swap, I've gotten only a couple of books, but I plan to use it a LOT more. Love it :) Added you as a friend btw!

  5. I think I signed up for it but I haven't been over there at all. I suppose I should spend some more time on the site. :) I guess for me it seems silly since I already have everything catalogued on my computer, but seeing pictures and such would be helpful....

  6. I joined it not too long ago too but haven't done anything with it yet! I'm also on Library Thing and I'm wondering if I should stay on both? Look me up on there...maybe you will be my inspiration to put my butt into gear! :)

  7. totally agree! I am a goodreads addict as well!! I love joing groups and finding what other people think about the books you love or are reading! I also like it cause I can keep track of all the books I have read which is really cool cause I know I speed through books but now I know the exact number, like I just discovered last summer alone I read over 100 books. Wish I had my blog running back then!! haha

  8. I've been on GoodReads for almost three years already! Wow! I love it! Since I've started my blog, I've gotten terrible at keeping up with my groups on there along with all my bloggy stuff. I need more time in the day! Maybe I can just ditch work... Ha ha! I wish! Welcome to GoodReads, and I'm glad you're enjoying it!

  10. Man, I guess there is a lot I don't know about Goodreads. I love the simplicity of Shelfari. I also love the graphics on it a lot more than Goodreads, though it sounds like GR has more to offer. I am on Goodreads, so I'll have to friend you!

  13. I have been a member of GoodReads for a while and love keeping track of books read/to be read --- but I am ashamed to admit that I never knew they had a GoodReads swap! I must check that feature out soon.
