If you could recommend ONE book....

I absolutely love it when people ask me for book recommendations. It's so fun for me. Last week, a coworker asked me on Facebook for a book recommendation, and I made this gigantic list with descriptions of each book haha. It was probably a bit more than she expected.

Anyways, just out of curiosity and for fun, I'd like to start this new thing today. I was going to ask "if you could recommend only ONE book for the rest of your life, what would it be?" Then I started to think of what my ONE book would be, and I could not narrow it down to one, because each of the books I like to recommend are so different from one another. So I'm going to narrow it down! I'll do different categories each week, or whenever I feel like it. So today's question is...

If you could recommend only ONE book that made you laugh, what would it be?

My answer for this is Jen Lancaster's, Bitter is the New Black.

I'm really excited to see your answers!

  6. I love humor in my reading!

I would recommend Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. It's funny, smart, and one heck of a good story.

It is also my favorite book and my fallback rec. :)

  12. Really sad - I can't think of a 'funny' book! Most of the ones I read are serious.

However, my husband has a recommendation for those into sports - Tony Kornheiser's "I'm Back for More Cash." (He's a big sports commentator with several shows.)
And I will admit, the first chapter about taking his kids to the character breakfast at Disney World and the sticky, sugary syrup had me in stitches.

  15. Oh ... I like the concept. I agree ... you can't just recommend ONE book. It has to be by category. I would probably go with any book by Christopher Moore ... maybe "You Suck" for pure laughter. ("Lamb" was fantastic but had a more serious core too). Jen Lancaster is always a good choice too.

  18. The last book I read that had my daughter and I in stitches was Finally by Wendy Mass. It's a middle grade read. Haven't read any adult novels recently that made me laugh as hard.

  19. Good Omens is a pretty good choice, but think I'll have to agree with Jenners about Christopher Moore's books if you want laugh out loud funny.
