Hey everyone, it’s been a few weeks since my last Wednesday update and my mom tells me my grandma who lives in another state has been disappointed by my lack of updates! I’ve been slacking, sorry friends (and Grandma!). So let’s get to it!
75 pound loss before and after |
Weigh-in
I have lost 6 more pounds since my last update and have now lost a total of 78.5 pounds. Yes, I finally hit that much anticipated 75 pound mark I’d been anxiously awaiting. I am now more than halfway to my goal! I keep thinking of the day I will step on the scale and see a 100 pound loss. I’ll probably cry. I want to reach that by my one year anniversary of healthier living in late January. Even after I hit 100, I’ll still have more to lose, but seriously, what a milestone! My weight loss has slowed significantly, which is frustrating, but I knew it was bound to happen after losing such a large amount. Onward anyways!
I’ve been continuing with my strength training at the gym alongside my usual cardio. Strength training has become fun to me, and helps combat the boredom of cardio. I feel stronger when I do it. I’m still spending about 40 minutes on cardio and 20-25 minutes of strength training on each gym trip.
I’ve continued with my running and am seeing vast improvements every single week which makes me feel awesome. I did a little fist pump at the end of my run on Monday after cutting my time for the fourth week in a row. My mile was 12:50 this week. It was 13:30 the week before, 14:03 the week before that, and 15:05 the week before that! Booyah!
I also had a really great accomplishment in my run this week. I ran the entire mile straight through for the very first time! I usually have to stop and walk some of it, but not this week! My legs were sore and I was gasping for breath, but I did the damn thing and it was honestly one of the proudest and most exhilarating moments of my life. A year ago, I couldn’t even run a tenth of a mile, and now I can run a whole mile. If you had told high school Stephanie, who dreaded the annual “pacer” running test in gym class (and gym class in general) that in a few short years she’d be running for fun, she would have laughed, but look at her now! Wish my old gym teachers could see me now, those b*tches! Ha!
I’m going to up my running from one day a week to two. My lovely fiance accompanies me to the high school track every week and runs like the wind. We’re planning on doing the Turkey Trot this year at the urging of my trainer, Scott. It’s a 2.5 mile run on Thanksgiving. After that, it’ll be 5K training, and eventually maybe marathons! Dream big. This year of healthier living has taught me that it’s important to do hard things so that’s what I’m doing – hard things that are shaping me into the person I always should have been. I now know the feeling of a runner’s high, and feel completely awesome after my runs. I will be a runner soon. I will! I will!
