FIVE ON FRIDAY (61)

Five on Friday

Happy Friday of the strangest week ever. This whole Coronavirus is wild, guys. We’ve noticed less people coming in to the library, and new things and places (like schools) being closed by the day. They confirmed the first case in our county yesterday, and I’m starting to feel like we’re walking around on the set of The Walking Dead. My aunt and I were going to see Hello Dolly next week, and wisely, the theater has canceled all of their shows. I’m checking the news nonstop, and each day is getting weirder. Luckily, toilet paper was indeed in stock yesterday at Aldi, which was becoming a concern of mine. We buy it every 2 weeks or so and were starting to run low – ha! How’s life and the virus where you are? Anyway, onto other happenings as of late!

ONE.

Preschool has been busy for Caleb lately! He had the pre-k Olympics last week, and we had a field trip to the planetarium this past Wednesday. It was the same (boring) show we saw during last year’s field trip, but the kids enjoyed it, so that’s what matters! Caleb was very enthusiastic during the Olympics, and was squealing excitedly and clapping for all of his classmates. To start the show, they all went down the slide and then went into a somersault. This goof went down the slide, stood up and landed on his feet, clapped, and THEN went into the somersault with his teacher’s help. I love this little weirdo of mine.

TWO.

We hosted a big book discussion at work this week for our new author visit series, and it was held at a local cidery. It was an AMAZING time and we had a super engaging discussion about Baby Teeth by Zoje Stage. Everyone really enjoyed it, and it went off without a hitch. I ran it with 2 other librarians, and we worked really well together to keep the conversation flowing and questions coming. It was just one of those nights where I know why I love my job and what I do. Not every day is perfect at work, but in those moments, I’m glad I chose this path for my career. Seeing people be so enthusiastic about reading and books is just the best part about what I do.

THREE.

How do you know you’re an adult? When you buy all new glass food containers for meal planning and get way too excited about it. I am planning on re-working the kitchen a bit this weekend and sorting all of my new healthy food and storage containers into one cabinet. It’s gonna be fun, y’all. Real, real fun.

FOUR.

My insurance approved my in-office sleep study, so I finally got that booked and on the schedule for April. I’ve officially scheduled all the appointments I need for pre-op requirements, so it’s getting closer by the day. Next week, I have my ultrasound (they have to check your gallbladder), and my first one-on-one with the dietitian, and then I’ll know a lot more, like how many more dietitian appointments I’ll need, and maybe even start to get a timeline for when surgery will actually take place. Excited / scared / ready / not-ready are all ways to describe how I’m feeling at the moment!

FIVE.

OH! On a good note, we finally got our long awaited new couch with our tax refund. The kids had just been running our living room furniture ragged, so we went to Big Lots last weekend and picked out a new couch and loveseat set. I am so happy with it! Not to mention, their furniture prices are great! Pretty much every large piece of furniture we’ve ever bought since we bought our house has been from there. Check them out if you need furniture!

So that’s it for me. I’m working tomorrow and it’ll be interesting. Everything seems a little interesting right now. Hope you all stay safe and in good health! Do you have any plans for the weekend, or are you staying in? Tell me what it’s like where you are!
