Five on Friday (33)

Happy Friday, friends! I am so happy the weekend is almost here. It’s been a doozy of a week!

ONE.

Caleb started Water Babies swim class on Monday and it was TORTURE. As you all know, I hate swimming but I had to go in with him. It’s four Mondays and only 30 minutes each so I suppose I will live. Caleb screamed most of the time because he is Mr. Independent and didn’t want me to hold onto him. On the plus side, we’re going with a friend and her daughter, so that’s cool! We also discovered that another friend is going with her son, too. Yay!

TWO.

Yesterday was mine and Jerry’s 4th wedding anniversary! It’s not a big milestone year or anything, and we both had to work, so we’re just planning a lowkey dinner out this weekend. We’re going to a new Asian buffet that we really enjoy and bringing Caleb. We are so romantic, am I right? As far as this last year of marriage, it’s been pretty mild and uneventful. We had some major losses including our pregnancy loss and the loss of Jerry’s father. With that loss came the first time we’ve been away from each other for more than a night when Jerry had to go to Cali for the funeral. Some years just aren’t spectacular, but we’ve been there for each other through the hard times and that’s what makes a marriage. I look forward to seeing where we are in another four years! Happy anniversary to my hubby whom I love a lot!

THREE.

The new Broadway show season started here this week. My aunt and I have been season ticket holders for years. We saw our first show of the season on Tuesday which was School of Rock and it was INCREDIBLE! I love the movie and it was super similar. It was hilarious and entertaining with awesome actors, and included my favorite line from the movie: “you’re tacky and I hate you.” Lots of child actors, of course, and they all played their own instruments… WOW! Very talented. This has definitely moved into my top five shows!

FOUR.

As promised to my husband, I’ve been cramming our weekends full with all things fall and Halloween related. Last week was a festival each day. On Saturday, we went to the Scarecrow Festival. Caleb was a terror and we only stayed for about an hour. He got on a horse, but didn’t ride it (scared), he ran amok in the bounce house, we bought some bake sale goodies, and we made an ugly scarecrow. On Sunday, I went to the Apple Fest with my friend Denise, which has become a yearly tradition for us. While there were way too many people and bees for my liking, it was fun to spend time together. We got some apple crisp and apple sausage, cider (yum), and a couple of homemade Halloween craft items. This weekend, Jer and I are taking Caleb to the Scream Fest, which is a family festival with a children’s screaming contest (ha!) so that should be fun.

FIVE.

If you haven’t already gathered, it’s been a crazy busy week! It continues tonight with a visit to Painting With a Twist! My friend Karen and I are going and I’m pretty excited because I am NOT an artist, but they make me look like one! This’ll be my third time going and we’re painting lighthouses. Our logo at work (we work together) is actually a lighthouse, so I think I’m going to put my painting in my office. Pictures to come!

That’s my crazy week in a nutshell! What are your weekend plans? On Saturday, we’re going to the Scream Fest. That night, we’re going to dinner for our anniversary. Oh, and Jerry is making a giant Rolo cake. Sunday will hopefully be a lowkey day at home. We do a lot of our cleaning on Sundays, and also try to relax and watch a movie.
