Five on Friday (17)

Happy Friday, everyone! I’m so glad the weekend is finally almost here. It’s been a long short week. Can Mondays off just become a thing now?

ONE.

I finally have my Jeep back. Long story short, I got backed into two weeks ago and it totally messed up my front/side bumper which is all one piece. The whole thing had to be replaced. I drove a rental Nissan Versa Note for over a week and while I really liked it, I will always and forever be a Jeep girl and will likely only ever buy Jeeps from now on. Before I got my Liberty, I actually debated between that and a Versa so it’s funny that I ended up with that as a rental.

TWO.

Lots of news on the “Caleb is a big boy now!” front. No. Really. This kid has made so much progress lately, it’s crazy. First, he is consistently pulling to stand now – yay! We’re going to have a walker on our hands very soon. Second, he is back in his crib. I repeat, HE IS BACK IN HIS CRIB! This is the greatest news for everyone in my household since we are all sleeping now. He slept perfectly in his crib until about 11 months, which means that for the last 6-7 months, he’s been in our room. We would always try him in a Pack and Play next to our bed first, but he usually ended up IN our bed. No one got any sleep. We finally said “enough!” and did the Cry it Out Method. I hated doing it. We’d actually tried it before and wimped out, but it’s been successful this time (more on this next week). He’s been back in his crib for just about a week now. Hallelujah!

Fell asleep wrapped around his teddy bear.
Asleep around his bear!

THREE.

Jerry and I took our second couples cooking class last week and it was great! Our town’s continuing education department is offering them a few times a year now and we’ve done the first two. This time, we made manicotti stuffed with ricotta, spinach, and ham with a side of roasted basil tomatoes – yum! We definitely plan on taking these classes every time they’re offered.

FOUR.

Summer has finally arrived here in New York! We basically went from winter to summer here with no spring temperatures whatsoever. Honestly, the fall is my favorite since I’m not a huge fan of hot weather, but I’m loving being outside with Caleb because it makes him so happy and the sunshine puts me in a good mood. We’ve been going on walks as often as possible and have taken some trips to the park, too. We just put a swing up in our tree for him last weekend. Oh yes, and last Sunday when it was almost 90 degrees, we had some issues with our AC. We were all hot and miserable. Luckily, it was a quick and cheap fix that was done on Monday and we are up and running again. So spoiled with the central air over here, but it’s the only way I can tolerate the hot weather.

Caleb: riding a roller coaster... or riding a push car?

FIVE.

As you may have noticed, last week I did my first book review on here in at least two years. I got completely burned out on book reviewing, and deadlines, and pressure… but I’ve decided to dip my toes back into the water just a tiny bit this summer. I’ve got a few more lined up, then whether or not I’ll continue into the fall is totally up in the air.

What are your weekend plans? I have to work a few hours tomorrow and we’re trying two new crockpot recipes (tortellini with sausage and chicken fajitas). Other than that, we don’t have much going on.
