📚 What It's About

Julia is a big shot travel writer from NYC who is used to traveling the world for work and is always on the go. However, after slacking a bit and not writing quite as well as she used to, she’s given one last chance to save her job at the travel magazine. Instead of traveling somewhere fancy and exotic as usual, she’s sent to Eufaula, Alabama to write about their small town and annual Pilgrimage event, and she is not one bit excited. The town, however, and her handsome male host, Shug, are charming, beautiful, and totally unexpected…

📝 My Review

I love me some Southern fiction. I am a New Yorker through and through (not NYC, though – people always assume!), and I really enjoy escaping this life sometimes and delving into the South, where everyone seems sweet, life moves slower, and everyone says y’all! I wish I was Southern… *sigh* Anyways, the setting in this book was absolutely perfect and made me long, as always, to be a Southern Belle (though I think I’d have to cut out the swearing and buy some more dresses…hmmm). I seriously felt like I was in Eufaula, and I could envision the beautiful, stately mansions and taste the sickly sweet tea that Julia had to spit out! This story was sweet, fun, and quirky, what I always imagine the South itself to be. If you’re looking for a fun and quick escape, kick back and enjoy this awesome book. I’d highly recommend it, and am looking forward to reading Lauren Clark’s first novel, Stay Tuned.
