It’s been over a month since my last Five on Friday post… oops. Anyway, happy Friday! So glad that this is a three day weekend – yay for Labor Day!
ONE.
We’re planning on heading to the beach with family tomorrow night for a cookout if the weather cooperates! I’m excited to see how Caleb reacts to the sand, and I’m also excited for hot dogs. That was a rough ten months when I was pregnant and didn’t eat a single one… ha! What are your plans for the long weekend?
TWO.
In super exciting news, I got to meet Meg from Write Meg last weekend! It was really great because she’s one of my all time favorite bloggers and one of my favorite friends I’ve met online. We connected a couple of years ago and I’m so happy we’ve gotten to know each other. It’s so surreal when you finally meet someone in person that you’ve known online. You’ve seen their pictures, you’ve read their stories, and then suddenly, there you are sitting across from each other at lunch! It turns out her hubby grew up a couple of hours from me, so we met up about halfway in between when they were in town visiting their family. The babies were so well behaved (and adorable), the food was yummy, and best of all, the company was fantastic! Jerry and I get super anxious when we’re meeting new people, but Meg and her husband helped put as at ease and we loved chatting with them. It also helped that Meg already feels like an old friend. Here’s to online friendships that turn into real life ones!
As a side note, I know a lot of people say you can’t really know someone you meet online… trust me, I heard it ALL the time when Jerry and I first started talking on MyFitnessPal. I completely disagree though. Not only did I meet my HUSBAND online, I’ve met a handful of good friends, too. Honestly, my blog readers know me better than a lot of my acquaintances do. I find it much easier to express myself openly and honestly on my blog than I do in person. I express myself ten times better in writing than I do verbally, probably due to my anxiety. So to people who don’t believe you can develop real relationships online, I say phooey.
THREE.
Can we talk about baking for a second? I’ve been using non-stick metal cookie sheets, but lately my cookies have been a little crispier on the bottom than I like. I’m thinking of getting some silicone sheets to bake on instead – something like these. Any thoughts, suggestions, recommendations? You know I’m all about the sweets over here.
FOUR.
I know it isn’t technically Fall yet, but as soon as it’s September, I consider it to be. Since it’s my absolute favorite season, I’m really excited. I’m especially excited about doing all of the Fall activities with Caleb like picking pumpkins and celebrating Halloween. I’ve also been daydreaming about his first costume for months now. We wanted him to be a Mariachi guy since he’s Mexican, but can’t find a baby size costume, so instead, I’m thinking cowboy. Now let’s all take a moment to remember newborn cowboy Caleb.
FIVE.
My thoughts lately have continued to be consumed a lot by weight and finances. I’ve been working really hard on losing the pregnancy weight, and I’ve also been working hard on debt repayment and saving money. These are definitely good things to be working on but I have to admit, I’m a bit obsessed at times… it tends to work in my favor usually, though! Sometimes it’s good to be stubborn. Anything you’ve been obsessing over, or anything that’s been consuming your thoughts lately? Hopefully I’m not the only one!
That’s five for now — see you in the next chapter.
