Thankful Thursday (10)

Happy Thursday! We are almost to the weekend. I’m linking up with Rebecca Jo for Thankful Thursday, and sharing some of the little (and big) things I’ve been grateful for lately.

A husband who cooks

I am lucky to have a husband who is an AMAZING cook. I can give him any idea for a meal and he will whip it right up. A couple of weeks ago, I had a crazy craving for alfredo and he made it for me that same weekend. He’s made it several times and it’s always SO GOOD!

Adulthood friends and girl's nights

On Friday, I hosted a little girl’s night with some friends and my mom. Not everyone could make it, but I loved having my friends Denise, Angela, Catie, and Melissa over. Catie also brought her son who is Caleb’s little buddy. Basically, we just sat and talked and ate a bunch of food, but I loved seeing everyone. Funny enough, these are all friends I’ve made as an adult, within the last few years. I always thought making friends as a “grown up” would be so hard, but I’ve made some really amazing friends in my 20s.

A full four day weekend with family

I had a four day weekend, and it was just what I needed! Friday I was off for working the previous weekend. I saw Life of the Party with my mom, then hosted my little girl’s night. Saturday was my big kitchen declutter day (update coming soon) and Girl’s Movie Club that evening where we saw Book Club. Sunday was my nephew’s birthday party at Chuck E Cheese and dinner at my aunt’s (where Caleb projectile vomited… poor guy). Monday was Memorial Day and a lot of time at home in the morning. I cleaned around the house and read some magazines. For dinner, we had homemade garbage plates at my mom’s. It was a productive but also relaxing weekend.

Decluttered kitchen

A big update is coming soon in my Clutter Chronicles, but for now, let’s just say I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders when I go into my kitchen!

Caleb's antics

This child can be a real handful, but he’s also a riot. Over the weekend, he wanted to put on his red sneakers for no apparent reason. I told him we wouldn’t be putting them on until it was time to leave. Well, he decided to do it himself. He put them on the wrong feet AND only got the front half of his feet in so he was attempting to walk around the house and it cracked me up. Always grateful for the laughter!

Kindle Fire making my life easier

I am LOVING my Kindle Fire! I’ve been watching shows on it at the gym and sometimes in bed, and I also use it for my work-day reading. Instead of bringing my current book to and from work, I just read off my Kindle at work, so I’ve usually got a NetGalley eBook going there, and then a physical book going at home. I’ve also installed a bunch of other apps like Google Docs where I keep my budget and other important lists, and Google Calendar (which I just started using) where I keep my blog schedule and general schedule now. I like that I can open these up with one little tap and access them from anywhere. Basically, my Fire is making my life just a little bit easier and I am thankful for that!

Wax and flowers from a good friend

One of my favorites, Angela, gave me a huge bag of Scentsy wax! Bars upon bars upon bars! I was so excited and thankful because I love Scentsy, but it can get expensive. Caleb also enjoyed it because that kid is a wax sniffer to the extreme. She also brought me a beautiful plant to Girl’s Night. This girl is just an all around great friend and always thinks of others. She always helps me out with dog issues, and is so thoughtful. I am thankful for our friendship.

My growing baby

We are having monthly growth ultrasounds now (due to my AFP levels), and we had one yesterday. He looked great, was growing fine, and Caleb gasped “baby!” when he first showed up on the screen.

Those five paycheck months...

I budget for FOUR monthly paychecks, so when a five paycheck month comes around a time or two each year, it’s pretty AWESOME! Today was our fifth check of the month, and we were able to put a good amount onto debt and into savings since all of our bills were mostly already paid for May. Since it was Jerry’s third check, we also got a little extra because our health insurance only comes out of two checks a month. YASSS! I’ll take it.

Mom making soup for Caleb

Caleb is the pickiest of eaters, but he LOVES him some lemon chicken and rice soup from his Mimi. She made him his own big batch for the week and he’s been eating it daily. Finally, getting some healthy food into this kid!
