Here’s a little look at what’s been bringing me joy lately — the small things, the everyday comforts, the random favorites that make life feel just a little bit better. From practical to indulgent, here’s what I’ve been loving lately…
❤️ Thermoflask steel water bottle
I have a couple of quirky drinking habits. One, I will basically only drink with a straw, and two, my beverages need to be ICE COLD and have tons of ice. Because of these habits, I really wanted a Yeti, but it was going to cost me around $50 to buy that plus the special straw lid I would’ve had to buy separately. I ended up looking around for a cheaper option and found this Thermoflask steel water bottle instead for less than $20. I got a pretty lavender color, and it’s been perfect for work. It doesn’t “sweat” like my plastic water bottles, and it keeps stuff freezing. Sometimes, there is still ice left in there the next morning.
❤️ Angry Mama
Our microwave was disgusting and I’d been debating trying the Angry Mama microwave cleaner for a long time before I finally bought it. I have no idea why I waited so long because it was only 7 bucks (when I bought it), but it was well worth it. You basically put vinegar and water inside of the body, microwave it for 7 minutes, and steam releases from her head. It loosens up all the gunk, and you go in after and wipe it down. I spent probably 5 minutes or so wiping and spraying, and it looks like new! I lent it to my mom after and she had the same results.
❤️ Overnight diapers
I mean… it’s hard to LOVE diapers, but I have zero regrets about ordering these Parent’s Choice overnighters from Walmart. Holden was leaking big time every night and would wake up soaked through his PJs and onto his sheet. These diapers have worked perfectly and he is no longer leaking overnight.
❤️ Bento box
After I have surgery, I’ll need to eat small, healthy snacks every couple of hours. I asked Jerry to get me this bento box for Valentine’s Day so I could fill it with a few different things and bring it to work. I don’t make the time to put this together every day, but I’ve done it a few times and it’s been great to have such a variety of things to choose from at work.
❤️ Tea
I don’t drink coffee or alcohol. I pretty much drink water, Diet Coke, and Crystal Light. After surgery, I’ll have to give up the Diet Coke, so I was looking for other low calorie drinks to try. I thought flavored tea might be good because it would help satisfy my sweet tooth, even though I’d never drank it before! I’ve tried two kinds so far and they’ve both been good. First up… Tazo Vanilla Bean Macaron tea. Very light flavor, creamy, nice touch of vanilla. While that one is good, my favorite so far is this Celestial Seasoning Bengal Spice that Jerry picked out. We both love it enough that we plan on buying a 6 box pack from Amazon this week. Do you have any other sweet flavored tea ideas for me? I prefer either no caffeine, or low caffeine.
❤️ Cookie dough
One of my favorite local bakeries, Something Delicious (that’s their name!), started offering edible cookie dough two weeks ago, and I’ve gone the past two weekends to pick some up for a Saturday treat! I try to eat good all week, then allow myself some treats on Saturdays. It is freaking DELICIOUS! I plan on making this my Saturday treat weekly. I’ve been getting the chocolate chip M&M, but think I’m going to switch it up and go plain chocolate chip this weekend. They even said they might make more varieties soon. Yassss.
❤️ Terro Ant Killer
Here in New York, we’re lucky that we don’t have any crazy insects, just your standard ants and mosquitoes (freaking annoying). We do get hit pretty hard with ants every year though, and they start creeping all around the kitchen and living room. This year, we decided to try this freaking cheap Terro Liquid Ant Killer (we paid less than $4!) and it has worked WONDERS! We are rarely seeing ants now, and when they show up again, we still have plenty of the Terro left that we’ll put out again.
❤️ Steel straws
Remember how I said above that I only drink with a straw? Well, we used to go through hundreds of disposable plastic straws a year. A couple of months ago, I decided to try out some reusable straws instead, and we love them! They save money in the long run since we’re not constantly buying disposable straws, and they’re way better for the environment too. The kids use them too and they are very nice and sturdy. We now have straight steel, bent steel, and bent silicone straws. My favorite are the bent steel straws.
That’s what I’ve been loving lately — now it’s your turn. What little things are making you smile right now?
