Is she blogging about me again? |
Well I haven’t done a Thursday Thoughts since 2016… YIKES! Just one of those days where I feel like chatting about some randomness, so here we are.
- You guys ever see the show Shark Tank? I don’t even remember how it caught my eye, but I saw it about a month ago and now I’m obsessed. I have 100+ on my DVR and I watch it almost every night. I know nothing about business or sharks but now Jerry and I be like “yoooo that company at a million dollar valuation?! Nope.”
- Also still super obsessed with America Says. It’s a fairly new game show on Game Show Network and I started watching it while on maternity leave with Holden. Now it’s kind of my routine to get home and watch an episode and unwind with that and dinner. PS I am such a huge GSN fan that an intern reached out to me to do a survey because she saw me on their Facebook page. She said I was one of the younger participants – HA!
- Holden has been a great sleeper for awhile now, but over the last few weeks he’s been waking up early in the morning for a bottle. He usually goes right back to sleep, but it’s been rough. I’m the kind of person who NEEDS sleep or I cannot function without being a jerk.
- Speaking of Holden, he is going to be ONE in less than a month. How did that happen?
- Now let me give my big boy Caleb a little attention. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably already saw the video, but this kid is READING! He’s only 4 and he blows my mind. He loves to learn and loves words. He’s constantly pointing at signs and everything else he sees and asking what it says. I’m a librarian, so obviously this melts me.
- Now that Jerry and I are doing Saturday “cheat days,” and mostly eating our treats then, I have re-discovered cake mix cookies, and have made these the last couple of weekends for us! You get a box of cake mix (any flavor), mix it with 1/3 cup of vegetable oil, and 2 eggs. Then you add ANYTHING else you want, scoop them into cookie mounds onto a baking sheet, and bake at 350 for about 10 minutes. They make really moist, delicious cookies. I’ve done chocolate with all kinds of mix ins like butterscotch chips and caramel, and I also did yellow cake with butterscotch chips and Golden Oreos. What will I make this weekend? Why thank you for asking. Jerry loved the yellow so I am doing yellow again with cookie butter, Golden Oreos, and butterscotch chips. Try them out!
- I’ve been having so much fun on my new Bookstagram with my coworker Karen, and also my new Primitive Doll Collector group that I made on Facebook. I get REALLY into things, and it’s just been fun for me to share my passions with other people.
- I am super pumped for fall already. Honestly, summer could just end right now and I’d be happy. I hate heat. I’m a grouch. I am already plotting out my fall decor and Spooky Town village, and I can’t wait until Halloween… so sue me!
- I keep a running note on my phone of funny stuff that Caleb says. Here are a couple of his recent gems:
- “Mommy, don’t go to the store. You’ll miss me!”
- His response after asking him if he had a poop accident: “Yes. That’s the bad news.”
- Lastly, I absolutely LOVE the occasional email I get from longtime blog readers who just want to say hi or ask a question because they don’t usually comment. In my mind, the only people who read my blog are the handful of people who comment regularly, but it seems that there are more people out there reading! If you’re one of those readers, please leave me a comment here on this post to say hi so that I can “meet” you (if you don’t mind)! I just love making that connection! It’s also kind of cool to realize there are more people following along with my boring old life and pushes me to keep writing and sharing. SO HOLLA, FRIENDS! Let today be the day! 🙂
I hope you all enjoy the weekend. Our only plans are an oil change for my car and maybe taking the boys to the “I Dig This Town” yearly event where they bring all sorts of trucks and constsruction vehicles for the kids to climb aboard. Jerry is grilling out on Saturday, and I’m hoping for a nice movie night with the hubs. What are your plans?
