Get Sh*t Done: July 2018 Goals + June 2018 Recap

It’s time to check in and reset. Below is a recap of how I did on my June 2018 goals—and a fresh list of things I’m aiming to get done this July. Let’s go… one messy step at a time. 🧹

✅ June 2018 Goal Recap

Personal Goals

Upload all photos for my January – March Shutterfly album and get book made: DONE! I am almost caught up now on getting my books made! Now to get them all printed… all four (and soon to be five) of them. Yikes.
Read three magazines: DONE! I finished this in the nick of time by binge reading them all over the weekend. I read People (1) and Rachael Ray (2). This is why I set goals… I would not have done this if I hadn’t had this goal.
See four movies in theater: FAIL. I only made it two this month.
  • Adrift: this was pretty good, but kind of sad and intense! I saw this with Angela.
  • Hereditary: this was whacky as hell, but I ultimately liked it and it held my attention. Ending had me like… whaaaat? Saw this with Katie.
Go to the gym eight times: FAIL. I went once in early June and then was in horrible pain for days. I spoke with my OB and he said that I was overdoing it, even though I didn’t feel like I was. I have now been advised to walk outside the rest of the pregnancy. He said this is much easier on the body than the treadmill / cardio machines.
Go to a baseball game: FAIL. Didn't happen.

Financial Goals

Pay $200 on Visa credit card: DONE! Paid $225. This balance is getting lower and lower and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
Get window repaired: DONE! $300.00+ and one year later…
Pay for Jerry’s car inspection (and possible repairs) without the credit card: DONE! Had to cough up a few hundred for some repairs but we covered it.
Increase Caleb’s savings by $100: DONE! Getting ready for preschool tuition payments!
Buy new bedding for Caleb: FAIL. We DID buy a bed rail though.

Household Goals

Start to simplify the laundry room: FAIL. Didn’t start. I’m getting to the point in my pregnancy where a lot of bending and lifting is hard on my back. A lot of my simplifying and de-cluttering may have to wait until after the baby comes, except for some light things.
Pack up two totes of books: DONE! Just trying to get my library room picked up since there are books on the floor. This is WAY advance prep for wanting to move in a year or two.
✅ Total Completed: 7/12. Not bad. We especially crushed the finance goals, which is great. I am overestimating the things I am able to do now in my third trimester and need to slow things down for the rest of the pregnancy. Many of my July goals are things that aren’t physically involved, as you’ll see below.

📌 July 2018 Goals

Personal Goals

  • Finish three books: I’m in the middle of two, so I’d like to finish those two, plus at least one more.
  • Finish season one of Desperate Housewives: a Hulu rewatch of one of my favorites!
  • Do not get back on Facebook: more on this soon, but I deactivated Facebook for now!
  • Upload all photos for my April – June Shutterfly album and get book made: after this, I will be officially caught up on uploading and having my books made – yay! Now to print the last few… waiting on a good sale!
  • Finish my book club book on time: I never have it completely finished in time for my meetings. Oops!
  • Read and discard two magazines: more de-cluttering.
  • See two movies in theater
  • Address and mail out invitations by July 7: working on some bridal shower invitations and I’d like to get them done as early in the month as possible!

Financial Goals

  • Pay $250 on Visa credit card: stepping it up this month. We’re SO close to paying this off!
  • Increase Caleb’s savings by $100: this goal is a repeat because we’re getting ready to start making preschool tuition payments.
  • Increase savings by $100: this is our general savings which will be used for maternity leave.
  • Purchase infant carseat: time to start getting ready!
  • Buy new bedding for Caleb: rollover goal.

Household Goals

  • Sort through two boxes in laundry room: the laundry room was supposed to be my June Clutter Chronicles project and I didn’t even start. Baby steps on this one for now, until I am more physically able.
  • Cook dinner at least six times: I’m learning to cook now that Jerry is on days. We take turns, and I’d like to cook at least six dinners this month.
  • Set up Caleb’s new toy bins and clean up: Caleb has new toy bins for his room. I’d like to get those set up this month so we can keep cleaning up his big boy room to get ready to move him over.
⭐ Priority Goal: Get caught up on the photo books!

One messy step at a time still moves you forward.
